Ilkay Gundogan played a key role in Die Mannschaft’s 3-0 drubbing of Estonia and it’s seemingly sparked a debate amongst a few Manchester City supporters.

The German midfielder shone for his national team in a fairly routine Euro 2020 qualifying win, scoring a 5-minute brace mid-way through the second half to help secure victory.
His performance was reminiscent of Gundogan’s key influence in City’s title-winning team last season, where he actively stood out in a midfield bereft of Kevin De Bruyne and helped his side to overcome Liverpool in one of the most intense title races ever.
The same cannot be said for the 28-year-old this season, however, after drawing some criticism from the fans below for not living up to last year’s breathtaking standards.
Manchester City’s official Twitter account said: “@IlkayGuendogan was in fine form for Germany as he scored two and assisted the other in a 0-3 win over Estonia”
After putting on that brilliant display at the weekend, a few City fans have taken to Twitter in debate over Gundogan’s priorities, whilst others were simply in awe of the former Dortmund man.

Let’s hope he carries this form into the Palace game. Putty he couldn’t do this against wolves

Our fans speak badly of him. But it is a key piece for team.
