According to a recent report from the Telegraph, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola ‘would love’ to sign Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell as part of a summer transfer overhaul at the end of the season – with the Sky Blues targeting between four and six signings depending on the number of departures.
Guardiola, who has had to cope with a plethora of injury issues since the start of this season, could be set to use the summer transfer window as a solution to his lack of cover – with Chilwell emerging as a high priority target.
However, some City supporters aren’t particularly impressed with the rumours, especially given the fact Guardiola has three left-backs already at his disposal in Benjamin Mendy, Angelino and Oleksandr Zinchenko.
Compared to the Blues’ current crop, Chilwell has averaged more tackles per game than the likes of Mendy and Angelino – amassing 1.8 successful challenges (per WhoScored) every 90 minutes in the Premier League.
Regardless, a section of fans still don’t see the merit in bringing him to the Etihad, here’s what they had to say.
Not even better than Angelino

Chilwell had an absolute ‘mare v City, as did Soyuncu. Chilwell is not good enough on the ball & his delivery into the box is not as good as Mendy’s.
