The England defender, rated at £32.4m on TransferMarkt, came to the club from Everton in a £47.5m deal in 2016. He has gone on to make 129 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side, scoring five goals in that time, and has won eight trophies at the club, including two Premier League titles.

Unfortunately, Stones has suffered several injuries in his time at the Etihad Stadium, with various fitness issues ruling him out of 14 games this season. His first campaign at Manchester City saw him subjected to plentiful criticism (as per Goal.com) and, last year, Guardiola felt compelled to publicly insist that he had no intentions of selling the defender, despite transfer reports to the contrary (via The Telegraph).

The 25-year-old centre-back still has a lot to do to win over these City fans on Twitter, with one placing him “in the Otamendi category”, a reference to his Argentine team-mate who has been slammed by several pundits over some performances this season:

Man City fans, what have you made of Stones’ performances for the club so far? Do you think he is good enough to hold down a place in Guardiola’s first XI? Join in the discussion by commenting below!
