Manchester City: Fans vent their anger after Jurgen Klopp wins Best FIFA Men’s Coach award

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was shortlisted for the Best FIFA Men’s Coach award at The Best FIFA Football Awards on Monday but was overlooked for the honour.

Instead, the award went to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, whose team fell short to Manchester City in the Premier League title race but won the Champions League.

Manchester City-focused Twitter channel @YourMCFC subsequently expressed frustration at Klopp beating Guardiola to the award.

Despite being knocked out of the Champions League in the quarter-finals, Manchester City still had a hugely successful 2018/19 season under Guardiola, retaining the Premier League and Carabao Cup while also winning the FA Cup to become the first team in English football to win all three trophies in the same season.

In winning the Premier League title, Guardiola’s team retrieved a 10-point deficit on Liverpool towards the end of 2018 to overtake the Reds within six weeks and ultimately finish top by one point.

These Manchester City fans took to Twitter to show their unhappiness at Klopp being chosen ahead of Guardiola for the Best FIFA Men’s Coach award:
