After Manchester City strolled past Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup Round of 16, with the 1-0 scoreline possibly flattering the home side given how many chances the Sky Blues spurned, many supporters have been lauding the performance of left-back Benjamin Mendy.
Mendy, who has had to deal with a plethora of injury issues since signing for the Citizens back in the summer of 2017, is currently on a fine run of games – starting four out of their last five in all competitions since Oleksandr Zinchenko’s dismissal in the 2-0 defeat at Spurs.
Arguably one of City’s men of the match, Mendy registered an impressive 8.0 SofaScore rating against Wednesday – the highest out of any of his teammates despite losing the ball 15 times. As well as this, the Frenchman set up Sergio Aguero for City’s winner whilst nearly finding the target himself – lashing a thunderous strike on to the crossbar.
