Some Manchester City fans were left slamming the display of Joao Cancelo despite their 3-1 away win at Everton in the Premier League on Wednesday night.

Pep Guardiola's men continued their hot streak at Goodison Park thanks to goals from Phil Foden, Riyad Mahrez and Bernardo Silva, although Richarlison did manage to grab one goal for the hosts to make the score 1-1 at half-time.

Some members of the Etihad Stadium faithful thought that Cancelo was at fault for the goal conceded, as the former Juventus ace did not enjoy the best of games by his usual high standards.

He lost no fewer than 11 of his duels in the game, the most out of any of his teammates to have set foot on the pitch, and failed to make a single clearance or accurate cross (Sofascore).

The Portugal international also lost possession of the ball 17 times, the most out of all of the outfield players, earning him a quite measly 6.6 overall rating on Sofascore.

Manchester City fan reaction to Cancelo display

These MCFC supporters slammed his performance on Twitter, with some claiming that the 26-year-old was 'poor':

"Cancelo been poor first half. Hardly involved from the left. Poor on the goal too. He got caught in no mans land, not knowing whether to stop the overlap or deal with Coleman. Needs to be careful running through the middle with the ball too as their counters stem from the middle."

"Cancelo wasn’t good tbh. Way too wasteful at times"

"Tough half that. Poor communication between Sterling and Cancelo cost us, both went to the ball and left Coleman in far too much space. Big 2nd half performance needed"

"Where was Cancelo, genuinely curious?"

"#mcfc have to say we look fairly lazy this half, pathetic goal to give away @Laporte where was he? @kylewalker2 where was he? 2 players who should be worried about their positions! But the goal was all down to a poor pass imo from Cancelo at the beginning."
