As Manchester City continued their incredible run of form in all competitions on Wednesday evening with a 2-0 Champions League Last 16 first leg victory over Borussia Monchengladbach, some Sky Blues were left unimpressed with the performance of Raheem Sterling.
Pep Guardiola’s men set another record at the Puskas Arena, becoming the only English top flight side ever to rack up 12 away wins in a row (BBC).
City professionally got the job done with another clean sheet whilst facing little in the way of goal threat from their Bundesliga opponents, with the only scare coming very late on when Ederson had to parry away an effort from midfielder Hannes Wolf.
Joao Cancelo shone for the Sky Blues again, setting up Bernardo Silva’s opening goal with an acute delivery before putting in another teasing ball for the same man – who this time set up Gabriel Jesus for a tap-in to make it 2-0.
However, some City supporters weren’t impressed with one man in Sterling – who Guardiola subbed off with 20 minutes remaining.
