Manchester City: Champions preparing huge Raheem Sterling offer in light of Real Madrid interest

Manchester City are preparing a huge offer to keep Raheem Sterling out of the clutches of Real Madrid.

The England man has once again been in fine form this season for club and country and according to the Daily Express, has been attracting admiring glances from those over in Madrid.

However, that same report also claims that the Premier League champions are set to offer Sterling a huge deal worth around £450k a week as Pep Guardiola looks to prevent one of his biggest stars leaving the club.

Sterling has already fired in six Premier League goals this term in just eight appearances as he has once again proven to be the key cog in Guardiola’s attacking play. However, the interest from Madrid will be a cause for concern for City given their history of making big-money signings previously.

Sterling has developed into one of the biggest attacking threats in the Premier League in the last few seasons, and last year hit double figures in both the goals and assists column, averaging an impressive 0.5 goals per game.

Madrid are currently in a period of transition and are still waiting to see the best of summer signing, Eden Hazard. They already have the likes of Vinicius Jr. and Karim Benzema as attacking options along with Hazard but have seemingly identified Sterling as one player who can improve them further.

Given their stature as one of the biggest clubs in the world, it would surely take a huge offer for Sterling to consider walking away from City, especially given he is in the prime of his career.

Sterling has won everything there is to win at City in terms of domestic trophies, but the club do remain without a Champions League title and it’s hard to see them selling one of their major stars to a rival in that competition.
