Manchester City: Sky Blues buzz as Edin Dzeko could be offered ‘executive role’

According to an update in the paper edition of Il Tempo, via Sport Witness, Man City are the ‘only team‘ moving towards something concrete over a potential homecoming for ex-Sky Blues striker Edin Dzeko – and they also believe the Bosnian could be offered an ‘executive role’ in future if he completes a return to the Etihad Stadium.

Dzeko was sold by Manuel Pellegrini at the end of the 2014/2015 season to AS Roma, and City arguably haven’t signed a replacement with his aerial presence or physicality up front since.

Wilfried Bony was snapped up in the summer of 2015 as a replacement for the 34-year-old, but his spell at Eastlands was one to forget, with sporting director Txiki Begiristain now eyeing a chance to bring Dzeko back to Manchester.

He is currently at the centre of a fall-out with Roma boss Paulo Fonseca (Goal), and this report claims the Sky Blues are the only team ‘moving towards something concrete‘ in terms of interest.

City would apparently ‘take him back to fix a rebuilding attack‘ and could perhaps offer him a ‘future as an executive‘.

Flocking to this huge claim, it’s safe to say plenty of Citizens were absolutely buzzing – find all of their best verdicts here.
