Halloween may be over but there is a scary rumour spreading around the Transfer Tavern that has given some Manchester City fans a bit of a fright.
The Metro has reported that star man Sergio Aguero could leave the club to add more success to his CV if they do not make their mark in The Champions League.
The Argentine striker, who is regarded as one of the best players in the Premier League, is thought to believe that he will not be regarded as one of the best in the world unless he is involved in significant European glory.
Manchester City have won two titles and the Capital One Cup since signing Aguero in 2011, but have had no success in Europe – barely getting passed the group stages. This has led for some to fear that their lack of success outside of English football could prompt top players to leave, most notably Aguero.
However City fans shouldn’t squirm too much at the thought as, according to The Metro, Aguero is hopeful that Pep Guardiola’s arrival at the Etihad could be what they need to make an impact in the Champions League.
The Bayern Munich boss’s contract with the Bundesliga club runs out at the end of this season and he is tipped to take over from Manuel Pellegrini – another rumour flying around the Tavern – but that is a story for another pint for the Tavern punters….
