Manchester City fans may have not witnessed the best season this year at the Football Transfer Tavern but according to Football Fancast there is a small bit of good news on the horizon. Full back Gael Clichy has penned a new deal with the Premier League runners-up.
Clichy has been a consistent player for the club since his move from Arsenal and is still rated as one of the best left backs in the league. Now the Frenchman will be tied to the club until at least the summer of 2017 and feels that the future is bright, despite the lack of success this season both domestically and in Europe.
The full back spoke to the official Manchester City website and claimed that: “I’m really happy to have agreed a new deal with city and I’m already looking forward to next season.
“Things didn’t go the way we wanted them to this year but we’ll come back stronger next season and learn from this experience.”
City are of course looking for a new manager as the summer approaches after sacking Roberto Mancini and the current hot favourite for the job is Malaga manager Manuel Pellegrini and Clichy feels that no matter who the new manager, success is on the cards for the Citizens next season.
