Manchester City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are buzzing after the Daily Star revealed that Manuel Pellegrini will be able to sign Schalke star Julian Draxler for a fee of £25 million.
The 21-year-old is considered as one of the brightest talents to emerge in European football and it seems as though negotiations began after the German club made an approach for Citizens outcast Matija Nastasic.
Schalke boss and former Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo is keen on the Serbian international defender and Pellegrini insists that if he lets his defender go, he wants the first option to buy Draxler.
This is heartbreaking news for Arsenal fans as the German international has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium ever since he burst onto the scene.
So now it looks inevitable that Nastasic could leave the Etihad Stadium to pave the way for Draxler to go in the opposite direction.
It is believed Di Matteo is trying to reduce the fee for Nastasic to £8 million and would prefer to loan him for the rest of this season with a view to a permanent Veltins Arena switch in the summer.
