According to a report from Sky Sports, AS Roma boss Paulo Fonseca wants to make Chris Smalling’s loan move a permanent deal following the Englishman’s impressive stint in Serie A – with many Red Devils fans since discussing the update on social media.
Smalling, who has started 20 league games for Roma since his loan move from United at the start of the season, is currently impressing in Serie A according to manager Fonseca – with the Portuguese boss hailing the 30-year-old as a ‘great professional‘.
As a result, Fonseca reportedly wants to make his loan permanent – with many Red Devils supporters since going on to discuss the revelation on Twitter. One fan even suggested that he is ‘better than Lindelof‘ – with WhoScored statistics revealing that Smalling has in fact made more tackles (1) and interceptions (2.2) on average this campaign in the league. Debating the potential price, another supporter jokingly claimed his performances were of ‘critical‘ importance during Jose Mourinho’s time in charge and United should charge top dollar for his services.

Considering he was critical to our trophies, performed exceptionally well and was the most admired player at Man Utd, £150m wouldn’t be an unrealistic demand. Well, take him at £130m, just because Trump is in India..

Smalling isn’t a bad defender… his issues were playing with the ball at his feet.
Maguire has been a lot better at steadying the ship. Stats can prove that with recent form
