Manchester United have already made major changes to their midfield this summer.
Following Casemiro’s departure to Inter Miami after the expiry of his contract, the Red Devils have strengthened by signing Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa and Andrey Santos from Chelsea in deals worth close to €100 million combined.
Despite those arrivals, Michael Carrick is still keen to add another high-quality midfielder before the transfer window closes, and United have now been handed a significant boost in their pursuit of one of Europe’s finest holding players.
United Handed Tchouaméni Boost
According to The Sun, Manchester United have been encouraged in their pursuit of Aurélien Tchouaméni after Real Madrid reportedly became willing to listen to offers for the “fantastic” France international, as former Los Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti once described him.
United have already made enquiries over the 26-year-old, who is valued at around £68 million, with Carrick still eager to recruit a specialist defensive midfielder despite the arrivals of Tielemans and Santos.
Real Madrid’s change of stance is reportedly driven by their determination to sign Manchester City star Rodri, who captained Spain to World Cup glory and was named the tournament’s best player.
Funds raised from a potential Tchouaméni sale could help finance that blockbuster move.
The French midfielder joined Madrid from Monaco in 2022 for an initial £68 million and remains under contract until 2028. However, United’s interest is said to be growing now that the World Cup has concluded, with the club attracted by his experience, quality and pedigree at the highest level.
