Manchester United: Bruno Fernandes ‘breakthrough’ talks in Sporting transfer has fans sceptical

According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Manchester United may have hit a breakthrough in negotiations for long-time target and Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes, with the Red Devils apparently returning to the table with an improved offer – but these supporters are sceptical, to say the least over the reports.

Fernandes, who has been linked with a move to Old Trafford dating all the way back to last summer (Daily Express), is reportedly on United’s radar as they look to add creative industry in midfield – especially given Marcus Rashford’s injury blow. If this update is to be believed, United have offered Sporting an improved sum with add-ons in order to capture Fernandes’ signature – reportedly tabling a £46.78 million offer rising from £40 million, which could potentially rise to £55 million.

The Portuguese playmaker, when compared to current Red Devils midfielder Jesse Lingard, has surpassed the Englishman in almost every way – accumulating 3.4 shots per game, 3.6 key passes and 1.8 completed dribbles on average in the league as per WhoScored.com. All the while scoring eight goals and assisting seven others in 16 league starts.

However, even though this update could spell a positive in bringing the 25-year-old to Manchester, supporters are sceptical over such positive news – here’s what they had to say on Twitter.
