According to a report from Portuguese broadcaster RTP via the Sun, Manchester United have raised their bid for Bruno Fernandes to £46.4 million with £12.6 million in add-ons – potentially attempting to reach a conclusion in negotiations for the Sporting Lisbon star at long last – but these Red Devils supporters have run out of patience.
Fernandes, who has totalled an impressive 15 goals and 14 assists from midfield in 27 appearances for Sporting in all competitions this season (Transfermarkt), is currently at the centre of a drawn-out transfer saga that has been circulating since the beginning of the January transfer window (Goal).
The Portuguese playmaker, who is potentially seen as a creative midfield addition that could inject life into the Red Devils’ current roster, has surpassed fellow attacking midfield player Jesse Lingard in almost every way – averaging more shots per game (3.4), more key passes (3.6) and a higher amount of completed dribbles (1.8), as per WhoScored.com.
Fernandes has also blown United’s crop out of the water in terms of league goals and assists, racking up eight strikes and servicing seven others so far this season.
However, due to the increased price tag and the frustrated length of this transfer saga, some Red Devils supporters are fed up with the pursuit of what could be ‘another flop’ if past swoops for Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao are anything to go by – taking to Twitter and lambasting the news in response.
