Manchester United: Darren Bent’s comments on Paul Pogba have supporters split over want-away midfielder

Speaking to talkSPORT, former Premier League striker Darren Bent has suggested that Paul Pogba is merely a ‘scapegoat‘ and has warned Manchester United that their rivals could very well poach him if they are so keen to offload the midfielder – prompting a mixed response from Red Devils supporters.

Pogba, who has played just seven games for United this season due to a niggling ankle injury, is reportedly looking for a move away from Old Trafford according to sources from the Manchester Evening News. However, despite the player’s apparent wishes to leave the club, Bent has warned the Red Devils that the transfer could do more harm than good. The Frenchman, amassed 13 goals and nine assists over 34 league starts for the club last season, hinting at his proven quality when he is given a chance to perform at his highest level, as per WhoScored.com.

In the games that he has played this season, Pogba has also managed to accumulate an impressive 89% pass accuracy from inside his own half (SofaScore). However, taking into account the acquisition of fellow midfield star Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon, who was prolific in Portugal with 15 goals and 14 assists before signing for United (Transfermarkt), some supporters are mixed over whether selling Pogba would spell doom or not.
