Manchester United: Ed Woodward will sell six players to sanction move for Jadon Sancho

Jadon Sancho Dortmund

Ed Woodward wants to sell six Manchester United players to sanction a move for Jadon Sancho, who has a £117m price tag on his head.

The Red Devils are reportedly the only club he can join this summer, but Woodward is not prepared to take any chances.

Man United have less money to spend than they have done in previous windows, and the executive vice-chairman is hoping to offload some of the stragglers to raise some funds.

According to The Athletic, Alexis Sanchez, Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Jesse Lingard and Diogo Dalot could all be sold to cover the costs.

Although United are supported by a steady stream of revenue, even they are vulnerable to the unprecedented circumstances, and sources told the outlet they are expecting to spend £50m on the winger at the very most.

Sanchez has turned out to be an utter disaster ever since he arrived at Old Trafford from Arsenal in 2018. His performances have hardly justified his colossal wages which are reportedly worth £400,000-a-week.

Who should United sell?

He has spent the past season on loan at Inter Milan and the Nerazzurri are considering a cut-price deal.

Similarly, Smalling is considered surplus to requirements, although he has impressed in the Serie A after a successful loan spell with Roma.

Former United boss David Moyes wants to bring Jones and Lingard to the London Stadium as he is now in charge of relegation-threatened West Ham.

Woodward will know he cannot afford to slip up again, as he has made several major mistakes since Sir Alex Ferguson retired.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made it clear that Sancho remains his top priority in the summer, even though the market is still in a state of shock.

Selling these players to fund a move for Sancho makes perfect sense as they are all so far down the pecking order anyway.

United fans, should Woodward sell all six players to sanction a move for Sancho? Let us know down below!
