According to a piece by the Manchester Evening News, youngster Ethan Galbraith trained with the first-team ahead of Manchester United’s impending Carabao Cup semi-final second leg at the Etihad Stadium, with supporters becoming divided around the update.
The Red Devils, who are 3-1 down on aggregate after losing the first leg at Old Trafford, appear to have a mountain to climb in their hopes to win silverware for the first time since their Europa League triumph back in 2017. Now, it appears academy midfielder Galbraith could get a chance to show his worth, having trained with the first team in the build-up to the clash.
The 18-year-old, who has appeared 13 times for United’s U23s this season (Transfermarkt), was also given a chance to shine in Europe – briefly coming on for a cameo during their away defeat to Astana. He also made his debut for the senior Northern Ireland side back in September, with international boss Michael O’Neill singing his praises – calling him a ‘lovely player‘ who is ‘easy on the eye‘ (Manchester Evening News [11:05]). Now, surely it’s unlikely Galbraith will feature predominantly during the derby given its importance with Wembley a remote possibility, but that hasn’t stopped supporters from having their say about the youngster on Twitter – even if their opinions differ.
