Manchester United made it back-to-back 1-0 wins last night after defeating Astana in their Europa League curtain-raiser at Old Trafford.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made a host of changes from the side that faced the Foxes last weekend, with the likes of bit-part players Phil Jones, Diogo Dalot, Marcos Rojo, Fred and Angel Gomes all handed starts, among others.
After a far from riveting game, which saw the hosts narrowly defeat their opponents from Kazakhstan thanks to a second-half goal from 17-year-old Mason Greenwood, Solskjaer will just be glad that his inexperienced side came away with three points and now sit top of their qualifying Group L.
After the match, the Norwegian said: “We’ve had two clean sheets now, and that will give the defenders confidence. If we can keep a clean sheet [vs West Ham], it will be easier for the strikers. You don’t have to score twos, threes and fours every time.” (via the BBC.)
Here’s how United fans reacted to those slightly bizarre comments on Twitter.
We scored more than 1 goal only once
