With Manchester United in 5th place and five points behind Chelsea in the race for Champions League football, bringing in a forward could make all the difference for the season ahead. However, many fans don’t see Edinson Cavani as the answer – especially after rumours linked him with a summer move to Old Trafford.
The Uruguayan has scored in impressive 198 goals from 293 games since signing for Paris Saint Germain in 2013, and that includes two in this campaign, in which he’s only made nine appearances. He had an injury-hit 2019, suffering seven separate occasions on the sidelines, and he’s 32 years old, so by no means a spring chicken.
The Manchester Evening News has reported that United will be offered the chance to sign him for free this summer. This may come six months too late for United, with them hoping to reach the top four this term, and MEN sources haven’t indicated whether United would be interested. One thing that is clear though, is that many fans certainly aren’t.
