Manchester United fans have fumed at Juan Mata after his performance during his side’s FA Cup third round tie against Wolves on Saturday.
The Red Devils were held to a goalless draw against the West Midlands outfit on Saturday evening and will be forced to play a replay later in the season.
The former Spain international played in the No. 10 role as manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looked to mix his team up for the domestic competition.
Despite the criticism, Mata had accumulated some positive statistics after he completed a pass success rate of 100% and completed two key passes before he was substituted in the 70th minute, per Whoscored.
Supporters were livid with Mata’s showing and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan said that he “looks like he is running on quicksand”, while another said that he is “finished at the club”.
Here you will find some of the angriest comments from Manchester United fans:
I am still trying to work out why Mata got a new contract. Lovely guy, wonderful touch still and a great ambassador for the club. However, he looks like he is running on quicksand and doesn’t really have any impact in any of the games he plays in.

Perreira – Terrible positioning
Matic – One sided
Mata – Clueless— Olatunbosun (@BOStotheUN) January 4, 2020
Except for Martial, Rashford and Greenwood I don’t have any faith anyone else in the side to score goals. Some of the finishing from James today has been dreadful, Chong and Mata look useless the closer they get to goal as well. #mufc

Amazes me when people keep saying he’s less consistent or less effective. He’s absolutely done and was for most of last season. Re-signing him absolute madness
