Manchester United: Fans blast Phil Jones after Red Devils accept he is unreliable and will be allowed to leave

Phil Jones

Manchester United defender Phil Jones has failed to live up to expectations ever since Sir Alex Ferguson retired.

Jones has struggled with injuries during his time at Old Trafford and has been a regular sight on the sidelines in recent years.

According to The Telegraph, as per @utdreport, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer considers the defender dispensable as he is preparing to raise funds ahead of a rebuild this summer.

Privately, the club accept his fitness can no longer be relied upon, despite a successful surgery to sort out an issue with his knee. The 28-year-old has played just two games in the Premier League this season and finds himself below his teammates Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly in the pecking order.

This is quite a shocking statistic, considering the fact United paid Blackburn £17m for his signature back in 2011.

The Red Devils are ready to sell Jones if the right offer arrives and he will be allowed to leave in the summer.

His old boss David Moyes is keen to reunite with his former pupil, although that largely depends on whether or not West Ham stay in the Premier League at the end of the season.

Naturally, lots of United fans blasted Jones, with one suggesting it is “unbelievable” that it took the club so long to deem him surplus to requirements, with a couple of fans calling him a “fraud” and “made of glass” in reference to his injury record.

Offer? Who’s going to make an offer for an unreliable player?
