Loads of Manchester United fans have reluctantly accepted that Bruno Fernandes is unlikely to move to Old Trafford during the January transfer window.
As the long-winded saga continues, the Red Devils returned with a fresh bid for the Portuguese midfielder, desperately trying to lure him to Greater Manchester. The fee was reported to be £46.4m and United remain confident on getting their top target, as per the The Times.
However, Sporting Lisbon are waiting for an offer in the region of £50.6m, according to The Times, with the Primeira Liga side not willing to do business with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team unless the fee can be reached. Fernandes, 25, has eight goals from 16 league appearances with seven assists, as well as five goals in the Europa League, as per TransferMarkt.
With the window drawing to a close, supporters have started to lose hope that the deal can be completed before Saturday’s deadline and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan compared the situation to the Wesley Sneijder one, as the Dutchman was linked with a move to Manchester United for three years. He eventually turned down a move as he did not want to leave Galatasaray and the Red Devils were not playing Champions League football at the time, as per Planet Football.
