Manchester United: Fans criticise Anthony Martial despite Carabao Cup goal

Manchester United sailed through to the Carabao Cup semi-finals on Wednesday evening after putting away visitors Colchester United inside ten second-half minutes, but some supporters are still not convinced by Anthony Martial despite his contribution to proceedings.

Responding to a tweet by The United Stand, a lot of fans played down the Frenchman’s heroics on a fairly routine evening, with the Red Devils later finding out they will play bitter rivals Manchester City in a dramatic semi-final encounter.

Martial scored the third goal with a decent finish after latching on to a ball across from the box from Marcus Rashford – ultimately sealing his side’s place in the next round draw.

However, citing the lack of opposition quality as a reason not to get too overexcited, supporters have attempted to calm any praise for the 24-year-old due to the fact it was against Colchester. As per WhoScored, the former Monaco youngster was caught offside more than anyone else in the United squad, as well as finding the target with only one of his four shots.
