Anthony Martial last night took his tally of goals for the season to double figures as Manchester United recorded back-to-back Premier League victories.
The 24-year-old forward netted the opening goal of his team’s 2-0 win away to Burnley just before half-time, slotting the ball beyond Nick Pope after a deft pass from Andreas Pereira (as per Sky Sports), adding to the two goals he netted against Newcastle on Boxing Day.
Martial also had the ball in the Clarets’ net after the interval but the goal was disallowed for an alleged foul on James Tarkowski. [via Sky Sports]
The Frenchman’s 10-goal landmark was highlighted by @utdreport on Twitter with a favourable comparison to his previous two seasons given that there is still half of the current campaign remaining.
Anthony Martial is now into double goalscoring figures for the season (10). He previously had 11 in 2017/18 and 12 in 2018/19.

Martial has faced criticism from some pundits in the past. Former United defender Gary Neville said on Sky Sports last year that the France international “doesn’t quite understand the game”, while Graeme Souness told Sky Sports a few weeks ago [via Daily Express] that the 24-year-old was “a bit hit and miss”.
Following his 10th goal of the season for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team last night, these Manchester United fans on Twitter made known their appreciation of Martial, who missed two months of the campaign with a hamstring injury in the autumn:
where you at Neville

He’s actually very clinical if the players feed him balls the way Pereira did

@martinjakubec22 injured at the start of the season too. This is what happens when you play players in their best positions. Get us the right signings him and Rashford flourish
