Manchester United have finally got rid of Alexis Sanchez after reaching an agreement with Inter Milan, according to reports in Italy.
Corriere della Sera claims, as per @utdreport, that Inter have agreed terms with Man United, which will see the Serie A side spend £13.5m on the 132-cap Chile international.
An announcement is expected to be made at the end of Inter’s Europa League game against Getafe on Wednesday.
After arriving at Old Trafford from Arsenal in January 2018, Sanchez has turned out to be an expensive mistake by Ed Woodward. The Chilean has only scored five goals in 45 games for the Red Devils, despite the fact he earns wages which are reportedly worth £400,000-a-week at Old Trafford.
Is Alexis Sanchez overrated?
Yes
No
The executive vice-chairman has been desperate to make amends and appears to have pulled off a remarkable deal which will get him off the books for good.
Sanchez, who can play as a centre-forward or across the midfield, has struggled with ongoing injury issues and a slump in form. He was subsequently shipped out on loan to the San Siro but has shown flashes of his former self under Antonio Conte.
However, the Red Devils were still having to cover the costs of the majority of his salary, which has proven to be a problem when they have tried to get rid of him in the past. Now it seems like they have reduced the damage on the club’s wage bill.
Naturally, many United fans gushed over the “sensational business” on social media, with one supporter tweeting Woodward is “ruthless” for forcing him to take a huge pay-cut, while another added Sanchez is still “magnificent” after scoring two goals and supplying two assists in the past six Serie A games.

Great news!! Was afraid he’d be difficult to offload if Conte left. He wage could easily cover 2-3 signings

Tbh I’m happy with that. At least we’re getting a transfer fee for him as well as getting his astronomical wages off our books. Just didn’t work out for him for various reasons. Now Ole is at the wheel our recruitment strategy is back to normality

Magnificent player but better for all parties and we get his wages off our bill. Inters best player and they’ve got a bargain. Good luck amigo @Alexis_Sanchez

Just grateful he’s out of the club and his stupid wages are aswell. Had high hopes but didn’t work out at all, horrible transfer. Changing of managers and style didn’t help but he just didn’t do much when we needed him to stand out. Glad it’s nearly over
