According to Bild via Sport Witness, Manchester United could be in a race with bitter rivals Manchester City and others to sign German whizz kid Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen – but the asking price is a whopping £111.2 million.
Havertz, who bagged a prolific 17 goals and three assists in 34 Bundesliga games last season, has been dubbed a hot prospect throughout Europe – with United’s search for an attacking midfielder likely to end if they manage to snap up the 20-year-old.
So far this campaign, the German hasn’t exactly lived up to his lofty heights of the previous year – scoring just two goals and an assist in 13 games – but the Red Devils and co will hope to regain his momentum if he decides to sign at Old Trafford.
However, despite the potential that comes with this signing, supporters are not particularly convinced that he is the man to go for – especially taking into account his huge asking price.
Here’s what they had to say.
He’s overrated

Woodward won’t pay 100m plus on a foreign player

The price of “Potential” has gone through the roof, players don’t even need to be established anymore to be valued over 100m. A youngster plays well a few games ? slap a 100m price tag.

He was great last season, but pretty underwhelming in this one so far. Too risky for that much money until he can prove his consistency. Would rather go for Bruno Fernandes or Maddison in the summer.

Quality player, but for that much!?! Not a chance. Definitely not a genuine source. Just a reminder that Ronaldo moved to Juve for £90 million. 😂
