According to ESPN, Manchester United are optimistic Paul Pogba will stay at Old Trafford in the summer, as the club doubt any other European club can afford him, given the current circumstances.
The Frenchman’s future at United has been one of the hottest topics in football over recent years, fuelled by his controversial agent Mino Raiola, although the Red Devils are confident that they have now priced the midfielder out of a move (Metro).
Pogba is working his way back from an ankle injury and has only featured in 7 games in the Premier League all season. However, since rejoining the Reds from Juventus, the talisman has netted 31 goals and created 31 assists in all competitions, helping the club win the Europa League and League Cup in the process (Transfermarkt).
Despite this setback, United are doubtful clubs will be able to pay the hefty wages the 27-year-old demands, reportedly around £300,000 a week.
Due to the lack of game time and the fact his contract is set to expire in June 2021, the board have accepted his value will continue to dip, but still value the French World Cup winner at more than £100m.
Loads of supporters took to Twitter to share their views on the latest update to Pogba’s ongoing transfer saga. Several delighted fans are predicting big things for next season, with one claiming United will be “title challengers” and another expecting the campaign to be “different smoke.”
If the centre-midfielder can rediscover the form that saw him touted as one of the best players in the world, and forge a relationship with Portuguese playmaker Bruno Fernandes, it is possible Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will have every chance of success in the future (Manchester Evening News).
