Manchester United: Fans far from impressed about Lingard’s potential new contract

Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard hasn’t had the best 2019. With no goal involvements since last December, the 26-year-old’s place in the Red Devils starting line-up has started to come into question in recent weeks.

Lingard was dropped from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first-eleven for the trip to Southampton – though did feature as a late substitute in that match – while he missed the club’s last match against Leicester due to illness.

His form this season has been poor, with WhoScored giving him an average rating of just 6.41/10 so far this season, which makes United’s reported interest in offering him a new contract seem a little bizarre.

Lingard’s current deal is set to expire in 2021, with United having an option to extend it for a further year. However, according to reports, the Red Devils are now set to offer the England international a new contract, which hasn’t been welcomed by these United fans on Twitter…
