Manchester United: Fans fear the worst for Norwich game following Maguire injury

According to a report from The Telegraph, Manchester United defender Harry Maguire will miss several Premier League games after sitting out their 3-1 Carabao Cup semi-final loss to Man City – with the Englishman previously picking up a knock against Wolves which ruled him out.

United’s record defensive signing has reportedly torn a muscle in his hip, and is facing a ‘sustained spell on the sidelines’, leading some supporters to worry that they will have to continue to play Phil Jones.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side appeared to miss Maguire’s presence during their Manchester derby humbling on Tuesday evening, with Jones having to step in to replace the former Leicester City man. Indeed, the former England man was duly easily beaten by Kevin de Bruyne to set up the visitors’ third goal of the evening, invoking the ire of fans online.

The precise amount of time he will miss is not yet clear, but what is definitely clear is United’s need to improvise without the 26-year-old. The former Leicester City man wins the most aerial duels on average per game (4.7, via WhoScored) with Victor Lindelof (2.8) or Jones himself (2) coming close, so they could be vulnerable in that regard without him.

However, given Jones’ performance against City, supporters don’t appear to be too optimistic – here’s what they had to say on Twitter.
