Manchester United: Fans fume at Mark Goldbridge verdict on derby celebrations

It’s been a brilliant few days for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Manchester United, reigning victorious against rivals Tottenham and Manchester City respectively, with the latter resulting in huge celebrations for taking the derby spoils – though United Stand presenter Mark Goldbridge thinks they need to remain more grounded.

Strikes from Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial gifted the Red Devils a comfortable two-goal cushion for most of the Etihad encounter, with a late goal from City defender Nicolas Otamendi making it a shaky last few minutes before the full-time whistle.

Ultimately, United held out and came away with all three points – taking the all-important bragging rights following a memorable conclusion to a decade of iconic Manchester derby encounters.

However, according to presenter Goldbridge, the result erupted in much greater celebrations than he thinks were warranted, stating on Twitter: “Will get abuse for this but seeing all the clips of players celebrating the Derby win like we’ve won the league. This is our worst start to a season in decades. They need to do this every week now. Too many times we’ve got these results & slipped up the week after.”

In response, many Red Devils fans were in complete disagreement at the verdict – taking to social media and voicing their discontent on the unpopular take.

Here’s what they had to say:
