Manchester United’s 2-0 defeat to Burnley on Wednesday night will have been embarrassing for fans to say the least, and vast swathes of them left with just under 10 minutes to play. Despite United still being just six points off the top four, it’s clear many fans don’t feel their current form is acceptable.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has recently been ridiculed for his positive comments after the Carabao Cup defeat to Man City. Phil Neville took the same route and said he thinks the squad are “heading in the right direction” and then agreed with Gary Lineker’s sentiment that United fans are entitled.
When the footage from Match of the Day was shared on Twitter by fan account @TheManUnitedWay, it was clear that many supporters were fuming at his comments. Some replied to the tweet to slam Neville for both his optimism and his opinion regarding the fans.
I can’t really put into words how let down I feel by Phil Neville tonight. To call the fans entitled and to accept the position we’re in and to get on with it is disrespectful to the club who made his career and every fan of this club around the world. Disgusting. pic.twitter.com/BqCENsoXh4

You can see some of their reactions to the tweet below:
This man is a joke, we’ve waited patiently for our “transition” period, we didn’t expect to win every game, but it’s been 7 years and we can’t even win 2 in a row

This is why man like him, need to be kept far away from the club. If they not gonna start saying how it is, they are no longer legends to me

@GNev2 is Phil serious? Entitled ? Curious about that. Fans care and love the club, not to mention we pay the money. The people who are ruining us are payed to be at the club. We’ll be there when they leave. Time for some of the right people to speak up, Gary. We need help.

Phil Neville tell the fans of the biggest club in the world that we should except where we are. What a disgraceful statement that is from an ex Utd player.Would Barca except it or Real Madrid .Not for a second & as Utd fan neither do I . Enough!!

I’ve always said it and I will keep saying it… our so called Legends are Hypocrites and are so biased. When Mou was in charge, they were passionately showing their displeasure but now it’s Ole they are either saying trash or refusing to say the truth

I guess delusion is passed around the family then
