According to a rumour from The Times via Utd Report, the Red Devils were interested in bringing Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell to Old Trafford in a bid to strengthen their left-back position – but unfortunately Man United eventually cancelled their supposed interest, leaving supporters with a foul taste in their mouths.
The left-back position has been somewhat of a weakness this season — once again, Luke Shaw has struggled with injury.
United, at least allegedly, seemed to be on the verge of launching a bid for Chilwell – with the Englishman impressing so far for club and country this season. In the end, though, nothing materialised, leaving youngster Brandon Williams as the man to provide cover for Shaw.
Some supporters have since launched a tirade of criticism towards Ed Woodward and the manager for failing to capitalise and add some much-needed quality at the back.
Here’s what they had to say on Twitter.
Ed-Woodward disaster class again
