Responding to a Twitter post from the United Stand which detailed what could happen if executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward took over Tottenham Hotspur, supporters were in full agreement that the controversial figure would have them ‘battling relegation in five years’.
Woodward, who has been facing some pressure from the fans this January window as supporters remain desperate to land reported targets like Bruno Fernandes (Sky Sports News), has also faced waves of criticism in the past on social media – with the ‘#WoodwardOut’ protest having occasionally trended on Twitter in flashes over the last few months. Now, with fan account the United Stand pointing out a hypothetical scenario where he leads Spurs to relegation, supporters have taken the opportunity to lament his position even further. The 48-year-old, who reportedly advised the Glazers upon taking over the club in 2005, has worked his way up to the vice-chairman position since being appointed for a ‘financial planning role‘ in 2007 – but these United supporters feel that his work has not been up to scratch.
Here’s what they had to say on Twitter.
