Since leaving Manchester United last season, Jose Mourinho has been working as an occasional pundit for Sky Sports, covering certain matches on the channel’s flagship ‘Super Sunday’ programme.
The Portuguese manager was back at Stamford Bridge over weekend, four years after leaving Chelsea. This time, though, Mourinho wasn’t in the dugout, but in the television gantry with Sky, covering West Ham vs Manchester United & Chelsea vs Liverpool.
After witnessing United’s dismal performance against the Hammers – which saw Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side comfortably beaten 2-0 – the 56-year-old made some cutting comments on his former side.
Asked by presenter Dave Jones how Manchester United can bridge the gap between Manchester City and Liverpool, Mourinho said that the Red Devils are a long way off competing with their north west rivals, and that they could even struggle to make the top-six this term, let alone secure a spot in the top-four (via @utdxtra).
Here’s how some fans reacted to those comments; it’s clear that many are missing their former manager…
