Manchester United: Fans react as Rio Ferdinand gushes over Luke Shaw after Derby County victory

Club legend Rio Ferdinand had plenty of high praise for Luke Shaw after the Manchester United star opened the scoring against Derby County in the FA Cup quarter-final and loads of Red Devils have been tweeting their reactions to Shaw’s performance.

The BT Sport pundit waxed lyrical over the 24-year-old and noted how Shaw has greatly improved his overall game via the Daily Mail. Ferdinand said: “He’s proving people wrong, now in great vein of form, he was the best player on the pitch with Ighalo.”

He also suggested Shaw has “upped his game. Some criticism was deserved at times in his performances, he’s in fantastic form now.” The Manchester United defender maintained a whopping 91% pass accuracy rate throughout the game, registering 1 key pass and 1 long ball, as well as making 1 clearance, 1 blocked shot and 1 interception (SofaScore).

After a series of impressive displays in recent weeks, including winning 5 out of 7 ground duels during the dominant 5-0 win over Club Brugge in the Europa League, Shaw is now surely in contention for England’s Euro 2020 squad (SofaScore).

A member of the Old Trafford faithful certainly seems to think so, implying the defender is a “Shaw (clever) starter for England in the Euro’s.” Naturally, many Red Devils also shared their views on Twitter, with one fan commenting Shaw “played like a man possessed,” and another supporter adding his performance was “incredible.”
