Manchester United: Fans react to Daniele De Rossi comments

A lot of Manchester United fans have been talking about defensive midfielder Daniele De Rossi after his latest comments about the club.

The former World Cup winner with Italy, per Transfermarkt, was well known for his loyalty to Italian side AS Roma, where he played 616 times across 18 seasons. However the 36 year-old was linked to many clubs during his career at the club, and when speaking recently in media about where he would have liked to have moved to, he said, according to Sky Italia via utdreport: “I’d have liked to play for Manchester United. I’ve always loved them since I was a kid.”

The great engine in midfield, who also managed to score 63 goals and contribute with 55 assists for the Italian side, has now retired, finishing his career at Argentinian side Boca Juniors, per Transfermarkt, but his latest comments have left Red Devils fans wondering what could have been.

These comments are very interesting, especially considering the player did an interview in 2014 in which he said: “It was a good thing that I didn’t go to Manchester, now I would have committed suicide!” according to Corriere dello Sport via The Guardian.

De Rossi was an excellent player in his prime… stayed with Roma and give them his his best years before a cameo in Argentina.
