Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has penned a new deal with the club, committing his services to the Red Devils for the next four years, via BBC Sport.
The Spain international’s future was up in air earlier this year amid yet more interest from Real Madrid, and with his previous deal expiring at the end of the current campaign, a move away next summer looked highly probable.
That now looks extremely unlikely with United tying the 28-year-old down to a new four-year deal, which will see him remain at Old Trafford until 2023, as any club wishing to prize him away from the north west of England would have to pay a huge transfer fee – likely over £100m in today’s inflated market – something highlighted by Forbes last month.
While some may think that De Gea has played his best football in a Manchester United jersey, something which former Premier League goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer highlighted last week, the vast majority of United fans still believe that he is one of the best in the business and are absolutely delighted that he’s signed a new contract at the club.
