After the sale of Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan in the summer, and the proceeding loan move for Alexis Sanchez to the very same Italian outfit, Manchester United find themselves extremely thin on the ground in the attacking areas this season.
The Red Devils’ only three recognised senior forwards are Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford – both of whom have spent the majority of their playing time on the wing as opposed to through the middle in recent seasons – with 17-year-old Mason Greenwood as the club’s back-up front-man.
Greenwood has made only nine senior appearances throughout his short career in United’s first-team, scoring one goal (via Transfermarkt).
The teenager, who is currently the only fit striker available to manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after injuries to both Martial and Rashford, has reportedly been offered a new five-year deal at Old Trafford, worth £25,000-a-week.
