Manchester United: Fans react to Red Devils academy graduates update

Manchester United have given Premier League appearances to more academy graduates than any other team this season, and this latest news has delighted loads of supporters.

According to the club’s official website, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has used 11 products from United’s academy in 2019/20, and this exceeds the numbers provided by all of their rivals in the English top flight.

Top four challengers Chelsea are not far behind the Red Devils, ahead of fellow London duo Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur at the front of the chasing pack.

Tahith Chong, James Garner, Angel Gomes, Mason Greenwood, Jesse Lingard, Scott McTominay, Andreas Pereira, Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford, Axel Tuanzebe and Brandon Williams have all worn the famous Red jersey at some point throughout the campaign.

By comparison, Frank Lampard’s Blues have handed out places in the first team to Tammy Abraham, Faustino Anjorin, Armando Broja, Andreas Christensen, Billy Gilmour, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Reece James, Tariq Lamptey, Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori.

In a head-to-head battle at the top of the pitch, Rashford has bagged 14 goals in the top tier, one more than his compatriot Abraham, who has scored 13 so far.

Unsurprisingly a large section of the Old Trafford faithful are buzzing over the statistic, with one fan cheekily remarking “Ole 4 Lampard 0.” Another commented United’s youth players are “future stars.”

We play Academy graduates because it’s our philosophy, not because we got a transfer ban. Some clubs can’t do that. There are levels to this.

No matter who the manager is we will give young players a chance to prove themselves. Always something to be very proud of.
