Manchester United: Fans react to update on Angel Gomes’ future at Old Trafford

Manchester United have held contract talks with Angel Gomes over the past two weeks and have offered the teenager a fresh agreement worth £30k-a-week, as claimed in an exclusive via The Metro.

The 19-year-old has played in just six games for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Red Devils in all competitions so far. Gomes has also netted 4 goals and produced 2 assists in only 5 games for United’s development squad this season (Transfermarkt).

Considering the England U-20 international’s lack of game time, questions have been raised over his future at Old Trafford. Indeed, Premier League rivals Chelsea have kept a tab on Gomes’ situation and have registered their interest in the playmaker.

Earlier this month United offered the midfielder a salary reportedly worth £25k-a-week but this failed to meet his wage demands (Metro). The board have stepped up their attempts to thwart Frank Lampard’s Blues by revamping their initial offer to include the option of a third year with further instalments that would bring the total value to £30k per week.

Plenty of supporters are loving the latest transfer update, with one delighted fan exclaiming “Ole’s at the wheel,” and others pleading with United officials to get the contract sorted and “sell Pereira & Lingard” instead.
