According to a huge report from the Daily Mail, Manchester United could be set to miss out on the influence of Scott McTominay for eight weeks as he recovers from knee ligament damage sustained in the 4-1 win against Newcastle United.

The Scotsman, who has formed a stellar partnership with fellow midfielder Fred over the last month, will now have to watch his teammates from the sidelines as he prepares rehabilitation to treat a serious injury. As per WhoScored, the Scotland international is the top scoring midfielder in the squad (3), as well as registering the most tackles per game of anyone outside of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, proving his worth in all areas of the game.
McTominay will also miss huge encounters against Liverpool and the Carabao Cup semi-final two-leg tie against bitter rivals Manchester City – prompting supporters on social media to demand transfer action be taken.
Missing the youngster’s presence in midfield could, potentially, be detrimental for the Red Devils over this next month – but given January is here, this may be time to launch an attack on the transfer market for a replacement.
Here’s how United supporters appealed to the board on Twitter.
