Manchester United: Fans rubbish Ole promise to ‘reinforce’ squad in January

After taking all the spoils in a Manchester derby to remember after coming away from the Etihad Stadium victorious with a resolute 2-1 win over their bitter rivals, Manchester United fans have since rubbished a promise from manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer about reinforcing the squad.

Marcus Rashford gave United the lead early in the first half, slotting a cool penalty past Ederson, before Anthony Martial smashed home a brilliant effort to double their lead and leave Man City a mountain to climb.

The Red Devils also had other chances to make their victory a more convincing one before the home side grabbed a goal back to make it a nervy last few minutes – but United eventually held out to take all three points on an evening to remember.

Speaking after the encounter (via Utd Report), Solskjaer possibly hinted that he could be reinforcing the squad as well as looking forward to players coming back from injury, stating: “If we can keep these boys injury-free, we will take lots of points — and we are gonna reinforce the squad.”

In response, United fans rubbished the promise, replying on Twitter with due cynicism – here’s what they had to say.
