Responding to a verdict from Manchester United fan account The United Stand, Red Devils supporters largely agreed that the club has lowered its standards of success in recent years when compared to the Sir Alex Ferguson era – with these fans not holding back with their unadulterated opinions of the club’s direction.
United, who haven’t won a Premier League title since the famous old Scot’s last year at the helm back in 2012/2013, are still seemingly attempting to climb back to the summit of English football – taking to the transfer market and spending an enormous £968 million in their effort to regain dominance. In that time, the Red Devils have accumulated two Community Shields, one FA Cup, a League Cup and a Europa League triumph – but supporters have been arguing that they should be aiming higher.
As a result, some fans have slammed the board for their ‘acceptance of mediocrity‘ while others insisted it will ‘only get worse’. Here’s what they had to say on Twitter.
The standard of the club at the board level is now acceptance of mediocrity. The standard of the fans, however, remains high (I think….and hope..).

I don’t think it’s so much that fan expectations have been lowered, we still want to see United win Trophies and be the best in the World but I think now we’ve come to realise that the Glazers will never let that happen, Sir Alex realised this and got out on a high when he did.

I believe we have fallen into mediocrity, yes! Ole as our manager is just the icing on the cake, He’s a championship/league one level manager at best! But, my expectations are still high…I still want us to be at least challenging the top 3 teams. We are nowhere near atm!#OleOut
