Manchester United: Fans slam Ashley Young for not wanting to be named in club squad

According to a report from Sky Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio via MU Live, Manchester United defender Ashley Young does not want to be named in the squad for future matches, not even on the bench, with supporters coming out and slamming the potential double standard treatment between him and Paul Pogba.

Young, who could be set to join Inter Milan at the end of the season when his contract expires as per the BBC, has reportedly made it clear that he does not want to be named in United’s future squads – not even on the bench. The Englishman has been a mainstay for the Red Devils since signing from Aston Villa in 2011, going on to make 261 appearances while scoring 19 goals and assisting 43 others, as per Transfermarkt. However, if these rumours are to be believed, his time looks almost up at Old Trafford – despite making a healthy 12 league appearances this campaign (WhoScored.com).

Despite that, some United supporters feel there is a potential double-standard going on when comparing the Englishman’s wishes to not be included and the Pogba saga. A select few have been making a case that the reaction to this news could’ve been far more severe had the Frenchman been making this wish. Here’s how Red Devils fans blasted Young on social media.
