Manchester United fans are at a stage where they physically cannot take another year of Chris Smalling and Phil Jones, so as the recent Matthijs De Ligt links have surfaced they’re absolutely buzzing. Then, as usual, they’ve had a setback as Sky Sports have now claimed that United have ruled out a move for the Dutch defender.

That might sound like it would have United fans everywhere absolutely devastated but that doesn’t seem to be the case. If anything, the fans who have seen the update have taken no notice of it and are determined to see the teenage sensation defy the odds and complete a move to the Premier League to star with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United.
In reality, the most likely place for De Ligt to end up is at Barcelona with his countryman, Ajax teammate and good friend Frenkie De Jong, but who knows what will happen. The Red Devils have got just the one competent defender in Victor Lindelof and whether it’s De Ligt or not, a new defender will almost certainly be coming to the club in the coming weeks, and the fans are certain on this one.
