According to a report from the Times, Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has become so concerned with racism in football that he asked his teammates to wear ‘anti-racism’ wristbands in the pre-match warm-up against Newcastle United – with some supporters hailing the gesture and thinking he should be captained.

The Frenchman played just 45 minutes of United’s 4-1 dismantling of the Magpies at Old Trafford, coming on at half time in place of Scott McTominay who picked up an injury, with a transfer saga surrounding his future looming beforehand.
Now, after this latest gesture in the fight against racism in football, supporters have changed their tune and heralded the former Juventus man – with some pleading the club to give him the captain’s armband.
Troubling recent reports of racist incidents at football’s top level has prompted fans, players and pundits alike to come together and try to stamp it out – with fans now wanting to reward Pogba for his contribution.
