Alongside Peter Schmeichel and David de Gea, Edwin van der Sar is one of the greatest goalkeepers to have donned the Manchester United jersey in recent history.
The former Netherlands international racked up 266 appearances for the Red Devils during his six-year tenure at Old Trafford, winning the Premier League with the north west titans an astonishing four times. He was also part of the United side which beat Chelsea to win the 2008 Champions League final, and clinched the League Cup twice during his time at the club.
Van der Sar is, quite simply, a legend on the red side of Manchester and will forever remain one. Since retiring in 2011, the 48-year-old has returned to his former club, Ajax, in a more technical role. Initially drafted in as a marketing director in 2012, he was promoted to the role of CEO in late 2016, a position he has kept until now.
Speaking to ESPN (via @utdreport), the towering Dutchman delivered a cryptic message regarding his future, which subtly hints that a return to his former club could be on the cards in the future.

This would be absolutely tonic if we got him. He’s so well spoken, knowledgeable and wants to play football the right way. Throw Woodward to the finance department or job centre and get Edwin in as Director. The just watch Ole thrive!
