Manchester United could have fallen to pieces in the first half of their game against Liverpool if it wasn’t for a tight offside decision and a controversial foul from Virgil van Dijk. However, they managed to keep themselves in the game until the 93rd minute, and that will have surprised many United fans considering their starting 11 reaction.
Luke Shaw took the brunt of the disappointment when it was revealed both him and fellow left-back Brandon Williams would be starting the game. WhoScored have rated him just 6.65/10 for his performances so far this season for United in the Premier League, and that’s when he’s in his regular position, never mind the left centre-back role he played against Liverpool.
United’s official Twitter account posted the starting line-up on their twitter account, and it was there where many fans were quick to show how annoyed they were that he was starting and starting in a position he had not played in this season. Many replied to give their thoughts.
